Kings' MacDermid suspended 2 games for hit to head of Flyers' Provorov
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Kurtis MacDermid has been suspended two games for an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia Flyers blue-liner Ivan Provorov, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Friday.

The incident took place during a New Year's Eve clash between the two clubs. MacDermid was not penalized on the play.
MacDermid has four points and 29 penalty minutes in 26 games this season. This is the first suspension of his three-year career.
Provorov, who's on pace for a career-high 48 points, managed to avoid an injury during the collision.
