Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki has been suspended three games for an illegal hit to the head of Vegas Golden Knights forward Cody Eakin, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Monday.
The incident in question occurred during the first period of Sunday's game. Eakin was forced from the contest and did not return.
It's Borowiecki's second suspension in less than a week. The 29-year-old was assessed a one-game ban for elbowing Boston Bruins rookie Urho Vaakanainen.
Borowiecki will be eligible to return to the lineup Nov. 4 when the Senators host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
