Representatives of the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers started work Monday to finalize a deal that would see the Chargers move to Los Angeles to share the Rams' new stadium, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports.

The NFL is monitoring talks and is prepared to act as a mediator if necessary, La Canfora adds.

When the NFL approved the Rams' move from St. Louis, it stipulated the Chargers have one year to reach a deal to join them.

According to La Canfora, it likely won't take a year for the situation to be resolved. A deal could come as soon as this week.
