Yahoo sets ad price for Bills-Jaguars live stream

Yahoo paid a reported $15 million for the rights to broadcast the first-ever global live stream of an NFL game, and intends to make back that money through ads.

The game - a Week 7 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars in London - is still months away, but according to John Ourand of SportsBusiness Journal, Yahoo has been shopping it for several weeks with an asking price of $200,000 per 30-second spot.

Ad buyers are intrigued, but because there are no viewership guarantees associated with the live stream, they are also leery, Ourand reports.

"Most of my NFL clients have their eye on it but are not diving into it yet," Adam Schwartz, director of national broadcast sports media for Horizon Media, told Orand. "Everyone's curious, but there's a lot of NFL opportunities out there. My clients are always interested whenever the NFL introduces something new to the marketplace."
