Marcus Mariota edges Jameis Winston to lead May jersey sales
Marcus Mariota was the second pick of the draft, but he tops the list of NFL jersey sales for May.
The Tennessee Titans passer edged out fellow rookie Jameis Winston, the first overall pick in the draft, and the two quarterbacks who did battle in Super Bowl XLIX, too.
The 10 best-selling jerseys from May 1-31 were as follows, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell:
- Marcus Mariota, Titans
- Jameis Winston, Buccaneers
- Tom Brady, Patriots
- Russell Wilson, Seahawks
- Odell Beckham Jr., Giants
- Rob Gronkowski, Patriots
- Colin Kaepernick, 49ers
- Dez Bryant, Cowboys
- Aaron Rodgers, Packers
- Peyton Manning, Broncos
Brady's place on the list may be largely attributable to the droves of Patriots fans who made a point of showing support for their longtime quarterback in the wake of the "Deflategate" scandal.
No defensive player managed to crack the top 10. J.J. Watt landed at No. 12.
Incredibly, Tim Tebow had the 15th best-selling jersey in May. Considering Tebow remains a long shot to crack the Eagles' 53-man roster, fans who shelled out for his jersey may soon have buyer's remorse.
