Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers posted a series of pictures with his family, whom he's previously acknowledged being estranged from.
The photos shared on social media Monday include his mom, Darla, and his father, Ed. He also posted a photo with his brother Luke, but his other brother, Jordan, didn't appear in the pictures. In the caption, Aaron wrote: "Another bonding week."
The rift within the Rodgers family became public in 2016 when Jordan was a contestant on "The Bachelorette" and revealed that Aaron was estranged from the rest of the family. The episode also showed Rodgers' family having dinner without him.
"They go on a bullshit show and leave two empty chairs," the quarterback said in "Aaron Rodgers: Enigma," a 2024 Netflix documentary. "They all agree this was a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs at a stupid dating show that my brother just went on to get famous. His words, not mine."
The four-time MVP also discussed the situation in March on "The Pat McAfee Show."
"If you look at the saga with my family, for years it was one-sided," Rodgers said, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. "They were making shots in the media saying bullshit. I never said anything until it got to the point where I'm like, 'All right, enough is enough.'"
He added, "I grew up in a very white, dogmatic church and that just didn't really serve me. It was very rigid in structure. I'm not a rigid person. Shame, guilt, judgment. It was like, 'We have the truth. Our way or the highway. Our way is heaven; your way is hell.'
"Even talking to my parents, it was very black and white. Like, somebody has to be wrong, somebody has to be right. I just slowly uncoupled from that in high school."
Rodgers, who is entering his 22nd NFL campaign, re-signed with the Steelers on a one-year deal this offseason. He started 16 games last year in his first season with Pittsburgh, leading the club to a spot in the wild-card round. The 42-year-old said during OTAs that he will retire after 2026.
