Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr sustains concussion

Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr suffered a concussion during Friday's preseason tilt with the Detroit Lions.

Raiders head coach Dennis Allen confirmed the diagnosis after the game and added that Carr was also dealing with rib soreness.

Carr was forced from the game in the fourth quarter when he took a crushing hit from Lions defensive end Larry Webster.

Prior to the injury Carr had completed 9-of-16 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. With veteran Matt Schaub struggling so far in the preseason, Carr has a chance to capture the starting job, but first he will need to pass the NFL-mandated concussion tests.
