San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch took the high road while addressing the persistent drama surrounding wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on Saturday.
"We as an organization are going to focus on the players that are here," Lynch told reporters. "I don't have anything to add to that. We wish him well. We wish his family well."
Lynch added that Aiyuk remains on the team's reserve/left squad list, meaning he won't get paid or count toward the 90-player roster.
Aiyuk hasn't played an NFL snap since suffering a torn ACL and MCL in Week 7 of the 2024 season. He reportedly failed to attend meetings and team activities while recovering from the injury.
The 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120-million extension in August 2024. However, the club voided the guarantees in his contract in November 2025.
Aiyuk has blasted the 49ers in several social media posts over the last few months. In his most recent tirade, he claimed that head coach Kyle Shanahan wanted him to come back.
It was initially thought that Aiyuk might end up in Washington if the 49ers traded him or granted his release, but he might've burned that bridge earlier in July when he took a shot at former college teammate and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. "You're on my team now. You follow my rules," Aiyuk said on social media.
Aiyuk earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2023, racking up 75 receptions, 1,342 yards, and seven touchdowns.
