Darius Slay retires after 13 NFL seasons
Six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay announced his retirement from football Monday, ending his NFL career after 13 seasons.
Slay began considering retirement last year after the Buffalo Bills claimed him on waivers in December following his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran corner turned down the Bills' claim and didn't play again in 2025.
The 35-year-old ends his career with 187 NFL appearances. He made standout stops with the Detroit Lions (2013-19) and Philadelphia Eagles (2020-24) before playing 10 games for the Steelers.
Slay earned a first-team All-Pro berth in 2017 after leading the league with eight interceptions and 26 pass breakups. He ranks first in Lions history with 104 career pass breakups.
The former second-round pick helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX, starting all four playoff games for Philadelphia that postseason.
