Foles encourages Broncos: Patriots 'struggle' vs. backups in title games
Nick Foles thinks the Denver Broncos have a chance against the New England Patriots despite losing starting quarterback Bo Nix. And history shows Foles knows what he's talking about.
The Broncos beat the Buffalo Bills on Saturday to advance to the AFC title game, but Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Sean Payton's outfit will now have to play for the conference championship with backup Jarrett Stidham under center.
Foles, who started in a Super Bowl win over the Patriots as a backup quarterback in 2018, posted a viral tweet Sunday showing support to Broncos fans and trolling New England.
"A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games," Foles wrote.
Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours. I feel for Bo and the team, and I'm sending prayers for a strong recovery.

Foles spent most of the 2017 season as the Eagles' second-string quarterback behind Carson Wentz. However, Wentz went down with a torn ACL in the campaign's final stretch. Foles took over as QB1 and helped Philadelphia make one of the most stunning Super Bowl runs in NFL history.
The Eagles defeated Tom Brady's Patriots 41-33 in the Super Bowl. Foles passed for 363 yards and three touchdowns and made a TD reception.
