Report: Matt Ryan interviewing to become Falcons' president of football
Former NFL quarterback Matt Ryan will interview with the Atlanta Falcons this week for their newly created president of football position, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ryan, who played 14 of his 15 seasons with the Falcons, is reportedly considered the favorite to land the role.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced the creation of the position Monday as part of a new organizational structure after firing head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot. The president of football will be involved in the hiring process for both vacancies.
The next head coach and GM will report to the president of football, who will have the final say in decision-making.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports previously reported that Ryan was in discussions with the Falcons about a prominent role in the front office.
Ryan is the Falcons' franchise leader in wins (120), passing yards (59,735), and touchdown passes (367). He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl during the 2016 season, though they lost to the New England Patriots, infamously squandering a 28-3 lead.
The 40-year-old currently works for CBS as an analyst.
