The Los Angeles Chargers are placing rookie running back Omarion Hampton on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, head coach Jim Harbaugh announced Monday, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.

Hampton, who left Sunday's loss to the Washington Commanders early, will miss at least the next four games for L.A.

The first-round tailback was a key contributor in the Chargers' offense to start the 2025 season, ranking 12th in the NFL with 450 scrimmage yards in five games. He's also scored two touchdowns.

Hampton's injury leaves Los Angeles thin at running back, as veteran Najee Harris - who signed with the Chargers in the offseason - won't play again this campaign after tearing his Achilles. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal currently headline the Chargers' RB depth chart.

Haskins (five carries) and Vidal (four) combined for only 31 rushing yards against the Commanders. Quarterback Justin Herbert led the team with 60 yards on the ground.

The Chargers are also missing key starters at other positions. Left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a season-ending injury in August, and offensive tackle Joe Alt is still dealing with a high ankle sprain. Veteran pass-rusher Khalil Mack was placed on injured reserve Sept. 17 with a dislocated elbow.

Los Angeles started the season 3-0 but has since lost two in a row. Harbaugh's outfit visits the Miami Dolphins next.
