Eagles sign Za'Darius Smith
The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.
Smith played for the Cleveland Browns (nine games) and Detroit Lions (eight) last year, registering nine total sacks. He also finished the season with 17 quarterback hits.
Smith, who turns 33 on Monday, last earned a Pro Bowl berth in 2022 - the third of his career - as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Eagles will be Smith's sixth NFL team. He's also spent time with the Baltimore Ravens (2015-18), Green Bay Packers (2019-21), Vikings (2022), Browns (2023-24), and Lions (2024).
The move comes after Philadelphia defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 season opener Thursday. Smith instantly offers the reigning Super Bowl champions plenty of experience and much-needed depth among edge rushers. The Eagles also roster pass-rushers Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt, among others.
Philly had only one QB hit and no sacks versus Dallas.
