Panthers sign Hunter Renfrow
The Carolina Panthers announced Sunday they signed wide receiver Hunter Renfrow following his one-year hiatus from the NFL.
The 29-year-old spent the 2024 season away from the sport but had been mulling a comeback for some time, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Renfrow returns to NFL competition after spending five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. The 2019 fifth-round pick quickly established himself as a reliable option in the Raiders' passing game, hauling in at least 40 catches and 600 yards in each of his first two seasons.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound receiver earned his lone Pro Bowl nod when he led the Raiders with 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns during the 2021 campaign.
Renfrow recorded 269 catches, 2,884 yards, and 17 touchdowns over his five seasons with the Silver and Black.
After developing from a walk-on into a reliable weapon during his college tenure at Clemson (2015-18), Renfrow will resume his pro career close to his hometown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Renfrow joins a receiving corps that features Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette, and recent first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan.
