Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen didn't guarantee Anthony Richardson would start at quarterback against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 after a poor showing against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
"We're evaluating everything," Steichen told reporters, including ESPN's Stephen Holder.
Richardson struggled in Sunday's loss to the Texans, completing just 10 of 32 pass attempts. He tallied 175 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception.
He also removed himself from the game for a third-and-goal play because he felt "tired." He said he told Steichen that he "needed a break right there" due to the amount of running he was doing. He finished with 45 yards on six rushing attempts.
Richardon's second season hasn't gone as hoped: The former No. 4 pick is completing under half of his pass attempts (44.4%) and has more interceptions (7) than touchdown passes (4).
Meanwhile, backup quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown seven touchdowns to only one interception across two starts and four appearances.
Indianapolis heads into Week 9 with a 4-4 mark on the year.
