The Los Angeles Chargers have turned away calls from other teams about potentially trading quarterback Justin Herbert and wide receiver Ladd McConkey, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.
Los Angeles also has no interest in trading veteran pass-rusher Khalil Mack and plans to keep him past the Nov. 10 deadline, Schefter and Rapoport add.
The franchise reportedly values Mack's veteran leadership and sees him as a pillar of the organization.
Los Angeles, the league's only winless team, sits at 0-7 heading into Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans and doesn't want to send the message that it's giving up on the season, Schefter and Rapoport add.
Herbert is off to a rough start this year, throwing for 1,398 yards with five touchdowns and 12 turnovers. Among 31 qualifying quarterbacks, Herbert ranks 30th in passer rating and 31st in EPA/dropback, according to TruMedia.
The 28-year-old is under contract through the 2029 season after signing a five-year, $262.5-million extension in July 2023. He's scheduled to carry $45-plus million in cap hits over the next four seasons, with the highest mark being $71.1 million in 2028, according to Over The Cap.
McConkey, 24, is signed through next season after being selected in the second round of the 2024 draft. He's missed time due to injuries this season, recording 17 catches for 286 yards and one touchdown.
Mack is in his fifth season with the team and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. He's played in all seven games this year, posting 21 tackles and three sacks.
Los Angeles' offense ranks last in points scored, EPA/play, and success rate heading into Sunday. Head coach Jim Harbaugh made a splash this offseason by hiring Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator after the Miami Dolphins fired him as head coach.
