The Seattle Seahawks will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 15 on Dec. 18, replacing a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots, the NFL announced Thursday.

It's the first-ever flex of a Monday night contest after the league expanded its rules for shifting games ahead of this season.

The NFL also announced a Saturday tripleheader for Dec. 16, all between teams in the thick of the playoff hunt.

The 2-9 Patriots will instead host the 8-3 Chiefs on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Eagles boast an NFL-best 10-1 record and first place in the NFC, while the 6-5 Seahawks are the conference's No. 6 seed.

Philadelphia is now scheduled to play three straight standalone games, with a road matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in Week 14 and a home contest against the New York Giants on Christmas Day in Week 16.
