NBC Sports has confirmed the substantial pay cut Colt McCoy agreed to on Monday when he restructured his contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
McCoy, coach Jim Harbaugh's choice as the primary backup to Colin Kaepernick, will see his base salary drop from $1.5 million to $630,000. The remaining $870,000 has been converted to roster bonuses, earning him $54,375 for each game he's on the active 46-man roster.
It doesn't exactly convey confidence in McCoy as the second string signal caller that the team is now financially protected if he slips to third on the depth chart.
