Cardinals' Murray set to return Sunday vs. Falcons

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is set to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons barring any issues in practice, head coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Murray hasn't played since he tore his ACL in Week 13 of the 2022 season.

The dual-threat quarterback began this season on the physically unable to perform list as he rehabbed the injury.

Gannon said the team will activate Murray on Wednesday, NFL Network's Omar Ruiz reports. Murray needs to be activated this week to be available for the remainder of this season.

Arizona has struggled to produce on offense without Murray under center. The team ranks 26th in offensive yards per game and 31st in passing yards per game this season.

Atlanta boasts the No. 6-ranked defense in yards allowed per game. Despite its ability to prevent opponents from racking up yardage, the team is ranked 18th in scoring defense.

The Cardinals are 1-8 and would own the No. 1 pick in the draft if the season ended today.

Joshua Dobbs began the season as Arizona's starting quarterback before he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings at the deadline. Rookie Clayton Tune started the 27-0 defeat to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, completing 11 of 20 passes for just 58 yards and a pair of interceptions.
