Budda Baker: I'll rejoin Cardinals 'when it's time to be there'
Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker hasn't been around the team since he reportedly requested a trade, but it seems like he'll be back for mandatory workouts.
Baker, who's been absent for voluntary OTAs, told Cameron Cox of 12 News that he'll rejoin the team "when it's time to be there."
"When it's time to be there, I'll be there, smiling, same regular guy that I am, just excited to see those guys again," Baker added.
The five-time Pro Bowler reportedly asked Arizona to either trade him or make him the league's highest-paid safety. Baker has two years left on his current deal. The pact pays him an average annual value of $14.75 million, which is the seventh highest in the NFL among safeties, per Over The Cap.
"I'm just letting the business aspect handle the business aspect, letting my agent handle all that type of stuff," Baker explained.
Baker's situation will be the next major task on the Cardinals' offseason agenda. The franchise recently cut All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins on Friday and declined the fifth-year option on 2020 top-10 pick Isaiah Simmons earlier this offseason.
The Cardinals are holding mandatory minicamp from June 13-15.
