Saints sign WR James Washington to reported 1-year deal
The New Orleans Saints signed veteran wide receiver James Washington, the team announced Monday.
The contract is a one-year deal, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Washington, a second-round pick in 2018, missed most of last season with a foot injury. He signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys during the 2022 offseason and was active for only two games, failing to record a reception.
The 27-year-old has fully recovered from his injury, reports Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Washington spent his first four NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, averaging 28 catches, 407 yards, and two touchdowns per year. The Oklahoma State product set career highs with 44 receptions and 735 yards in 2019.
Washington joins a New Orleans wide receiver depth chart that features Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Rashid Shaheed, among others. Olave led the team with 1,042 receiving yards as a rookie in 2022.
