Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent was placed in concussion protocol ahead of his team's Monday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
With Bagent's availability uncertain and Caleb Williams likely out due to a hamstring injury, the Bears may have to start third-string quarterback Case Keenum against the Eagles in Week 3.
The 38-year-old Keenum hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL regular-season game since 2023, when he was with the Houston Texans. He made two starts in 2023, going 1-1 with one touchdown and three interceptions. Keenum has been the Bears' third-string quarterback since 2025.
Head coach Ben Johnson said Monday that Williams is considered week-to-week after he was carted off during the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Williams reportedly hasn't been ruled out for Monday's game, but Johnson noted he's "likely" to miss time.
Bagent came in after Williams exited and completed 5 of his 9 passes for 54 yards. An undrafted free agent in 2023, Bagent has served as the Bears' backup quarterback since midway through his rookie year.
After scoring 59 points in a Week 1 victory, the Bears managed just three points in Week 2.
