Running back Aaron Jones has agreed to rework his deal with the Green Bay Packers in order to avoid a release, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The reworked contract will see Jones earn a base salary of $11 million for the 2023 season, with $8.52 million coming as a signing bonus, Schefter adds.

Jones was scheduled to take home $16 million total prior to the restructure, per Spotrac. He was set to earn an $8.1-million base salary in addition to a $7.4-million roster bonus and a $500,000 workout bonus.

The 28-year-old running back's deal still runs through the 2024 season, Schefter adds.

A former Pro Bowler, Jones has been a focal point of the Packers' rushing attack, rushing for 5,284 yards over six seasons with the team. He set new career highs in 2022 after putting up 1,121 yards on the ground.
