Beasley ends retirement, signs with Bills' practice squad

Wide receiver Cole Beasley is coming out of retirement and signing with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Beasley will likely be promoted to the gameday roster in short order, reports NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

The 33-year-old retired in October, a month after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He recorded four receptions for 17 yards in two games after Tampa activated him from the practice squad.

The Houston native returns to Buffalo, where he spent three seasons from 2019-21. He racked up 231 receptions, 2,438 yards, and 11 touchdowns during his previous stint and averaged 10.6 yards per catch.

Buffalo granted Beasley permission to seek a trade this past spring. His tenure ended in controversy due to his stance against vaccination for COVID-19 and the league's related protocols.

The Bills have been among the clubs pursuing free agent Odell Beckham Jr. and hosted him for a visit recently, but it's unclear if the star pass-catcher will be able to suit up in the regular season.

Beasley joins a depth chart that features Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, and Isaiah McKenzie.
