Report: Winston to play vs. Buccaneers with 4 fractures in back
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston will play Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with four fractures in his back, reports Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.
There's no risk of further damage, Glazer adds. The 28-year-old will reportedly wear extra padding to protect the area.
Winston was a limited participant at practice all week. The Saints listed him as questionable with a back injury in Friday's injury report.
The 2015 first overall pick played every snap in last week's 27-26 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He completed 67% of his passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
Winston is in his third season with New Orleans. He started strong during the 2021 campaign with 14 touchdowns against three interceptions through the Saints' first seven games, but a November ACL tear ended his year prematurely.
