Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be sidelined for a minimum of five days, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said, according to team reporter Darren Urban.

Kingsbury added that the signal-caller's symptoms are minor.

The NFL suspended COVID-19 protocols earlier this year but informed teams last month that a positive test requires a five-day isolation period to match CDC guidelines, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Murray and the Cardinals recently agreed to a five-year, $230.5-million extension that includes $160 million guaranteed. The passer's new contract ranks second among all NFL players in guaranteed money and average annual value ($46.1 million).

The 2019 first overall pick won a personal-best nine starts last season en route to making the playoffs for the first time in his career. He also compiled 24 passing touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
