The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign former Los Angeles Rams cornerback Darious Williams to a three-year, $30-million deal, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Williams' new contract contains $18 million fully guaranteed and can reach a maximum of $39 million, Rapoport adds. The corner had more lucrative offers available but chose to join his hometown team.

The Jaguars' addition of Williams is the latest move in what's been a giant free-agent spending spree. They dished out nearly $229.5 million on the first day of the NFL's legal-tampering period and have added high-profile players such as guard Brandon Scherff and receiver Christian Kirk, among others.

Williams developed into a productive No. 2 cornerback opposite Jalen Ramsey. He recorded six interceptions over the last three seasons in L.A. while also making 26 starts.

The Jaguars will be aiming to improve a pass defense that finished with just seven interceptions in 2021, tied for the second fewest in the NFL. Additionally, Jacksonville allowed 26.9 points per game.
