There were 37 positive COVID-19 test results across the NFL on Monday, the highest number among players since the pandemic began.

Thirty-six players were placed on the COVID-19 reserve Monday and another positive test came in after the transaction wire was released, per Mark Maske of The Washington Post.

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Tyler Higbee were among the players to test positive, and weren't available to face the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football.

Other players who received positive results include Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay and safety Jevon Holland, Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Josh Gordon, and New York Giants receiver Kadarius Toney.

Additionally, a Tier 3 staff member of the Washington Football Team tested positive for the Omicron variant, marking the first known case of that variant in the league, reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

According to NFL guidelines, Tier 3 consists of individuals who perform essential services at the team facility, stadium, or other events. Those individuals don't require close contact with players and essential football personnel.

As a result, the league announced Monday that all Tier 1 and Tier 2 employees who've been previously vaccinated must receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot by Dec. 27, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Tier 1 includes players and essential football personnel who require direct access to players for more than 10 minutes on a regular basis. Tier 2 consists of other essential football personnel who may need to be in close proximity to Tier 1 individuals periodically.

Last week, the NFL placed 11 players on the COVID-19 reserve Monday as a result of positive tests.
