Ravens release Le'Veon Bell after 5 games
The Baltimore Ravens have released running back Le'Veon Bell, the team announced Tuesday.
The veteran - who appeared in five contests for the club - addressed the move via social media:
this hurts, but it’s been a blessing to be here to say the least, i’ve enjoyed every second of this short period & gotta whole new meaning of what this city is like & it’s a great place to be 🖤💜 I appreciate Eric Decasta & John Harbaugh for the opportunity to be called an Raven pic.twitter.com/428poGYsNO

Baltimore signed Bell to its practice squad in early September after losing its top three running backs - J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill - to season-ending injuries. Bell made his Ravens debut in Week 4, receiving four carries in a win over the Denver Broncos following his promotion to the active roster.
Across five outings, Bell rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 31 handoffs, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry.
The 29-year-old was one of the NFL's most productive and versatile running backs while playing for the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers from 2013-17. However, since 2019, he's bounced between the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, and Ravens.
Baltimore is interested in bringing Bell back to its practice squad at some point, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson.
Without Bell, the Ravens' backfield consists of Latavius Murray, who's been sidelined by an ankle injury since Week 6, Devonta Freeman, and Ty'Son Williams.
