Prescott inactive for SNF vs. Vikings with calf issue
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is inactive for Sunday Night Football versus the Minnesota Vikings due to a strained calf.
Cooper Rush will get the start against Minnesota. Will Grier will serve as his backup.
Prescott injured his calf at the end of Week 6 against the New England Patriots. He was confident he'd be ready to face the Vikings following a bye week.
The 28-year-old worked out on the field for 38 minutes before the Cowboys ruled him unfit to play. He entered Week 8 ranked third in passer rating, seventh in passing touchdowns, and ninth in passing yards.
Prescott missed all but five games last year after suffering a compound fracture and dislocation to his right ankle. He said Thursday he believes the calf strain is related to the catastrophic ankle injury.
