Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was helped off the field after taking a knee to the head late in Sunday's 27-3 blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Head coach Andy Reid said postgame that Mahomes cleared concussion protocol, but he decided not to put the quarterback back in the game, according to Dani Welniak of KC TV. Mahomes added that he expects to play next week, according to Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star.

Chad Henne took over for Mahomes and completed 11 of 16 passes for 81 yards.

The star signal-caller was in the midst of another uncharacteristically poor performance. Mahomes had no touchdown passes and threw his ninth interception - tied for the most in the NFL - in the first half. His 62.3 passer rating in the game is the lowest of his career, according to Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network.

The Titans dominated the reigning AFC champions, forcing three turnovers and keeping the Chiefs out of the end zone. The loss drops Kansas City to 3-4.

Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown guided Tennessee's offense. The running back put up 86 yards on the ground, while Brown recorded 133 receiving yards.
