Actor Kevin James will play New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton in an upcoming Netflix movie titled "Home Team," which explores the head coach's time after being punished for his involvement in the Bountygate scandal, according to NBC Sports' Peter King.
In 2012, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Payton for the season after he was accused of paying bonuses to his players who injured opponents from 2009-11. General manager Mickey Loomis and assistant head coach Joe Vitt were among other Saints members punished for part of that year.
The film will examine Payton's time coaching his son's sixth-grade youth football team in Dallas while he was suspended.
Payton, 57, read and approved the script after making some corrections to it, King adds.
Happy Madison Productions is producing the movie.
