The Chicago Bears are adding former Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams on a one-year deal, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Williams made his way into the limelight during the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV victory over the San Francisco 49ers, tallying 133 total yards and two touchdowns. He found the end zone six times during Kansas City's 2019 playoff run.

He opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was released by the Chiefs earlier this month.

The 28-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He has rushed for 1,231 yards during stints with the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.

David Montgomery has been Chicago's lead back, rushing for 1,070 yards last season. Williams projects to hold a backup role behind him with Tarik Cohen.
