Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins will miss their divisional-round game against the Cleveland Browns due to a calf injury, the team announced Friday.

Watkins was injured during Week 16 and hasn't played since. He was one of many Kansas City players to sit the season finale, but the additional rest hasn't helped his progress. The 27-year-old wideout failed to participate in practice throughout the week.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be questionable for the bout as he works his way back from ankle and hip injuries.

Edwards-Helaire was in the midst of a fine rookie campaign before exiting against the New Orleans Saints in Week 15. The organization expected the young rusher to miss the remainder of the regular season, but there was hope he could be back for a playoff run.

The former LSU halfback practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday but hasn't improved in the following days, sitting out Thursday and Friday.

Edwards-Helaire played a big factor in the backfield and as a receiving threat in his first pro season, accumulating 1,100 yards from scrimmage. If he cannot go, the club will count on veteran running back Le'Veon Bell to occupy a higher workload. Bell has added 254 rushing yards since joining the Chiefs as a mid-season pickup.

Kansas City will go up against the upstart Browns, who are coming off a 48-37 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers during Wild Card Weekend.
