The New York Jets probably regret not listening to comedian Larry David's pretty, pretty, pretty good suggestion prior to the 2018 NFL Draft.

The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Seinfeld" creator said Wednesday he urged then-Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan to draft quarterback Lamar Jackson with the No. 3 overall pick.

"I did call Mike Maccagnan before the 2018 draft and I recommended that he draft Lamar Jackson," David said during an appearance on the "Michael Kay Show." "I have a witness."

David, a Jets fan, added Maccagnan laughed and gave him "the most condescending response."

The Jets ultimately selected Sam Darnold instead of Jackson, who is all but certain to take home the NFL MVP award after leading the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC's No. 1 seed in just his second pro season.

Darnold, meanwhile, had an uneven sophomore year as the Jets failed to make the playoffs.

New York fired Maccagnan in May 2019 and replaced him with Joe Douglas. Maybe Douglas can convince David to join his scouting staff ahead of this year's draft.
