The Kansas City Chiefs now own the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs after their 31-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and the New England Patriots' loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins secured the 27-24 upset victory on a late Ryan Fitzpatrick touchdown pass.
The Chiefs own the tiebreaker over the Patriots on the strength of their head-to-head win in Week 14 and have earned a bye in the first week of the postseason.
The Patriots will play on Wild Card Weekend for the first time since 2009.
Here's how the AFC bracket looks:
| Seed | Team | Division | Record |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ravens (z) | North | 13-2 |
| 2 | Chiefs (z) | West | 12-4 |
| 3 | Patriots (y) | East | 12-4 |
| 4 | Texans (y) | South | 10-5 |
| 5 | Bills (x) | East | 10-6 |
| 6 | Titans (x) | South | 9-7 |
The Baltimore Ravens and Chiefs will get a week off. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round, and the Patriots welcome the Tennessee Titans.
