New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has filed a trademark request for the term "Danny Dimes," according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Jones' marketing agency, CAA, said the trademark request was filed to protect the 22-year-old moving forward. Since his pro debut in Week 3, there's been a high demand for "Danny Dimes" merchandise and more than 20 companies have begun producing unlicensed T-shirts that feature the term.

For his part, Jones hasn't appeared thrilled with his new moniker.

"I don't know. It's all right, I guess. There could be worse nicknames," he said in September.

Since his Week 3 debut - a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jones has gone 1-6 for the Giants. Overall, he's thrown 15 touchdowns while committing 17 turnovers.
