Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was cited for possession of marijuana Wednesday morning, according to a police report obtained by Justin Barney of News4Jax.
In a statement, the team said it's "aware of an issue" involving Dareus and plans to handle it internally.
Dareus was initially pulled over for speeding. Neither Dareus nor the three passengers in his vehicle claimed responsibility for the marijuana or drug paraphernalia discovered by police.
The 29-year-old Dareus has six tackles and 0.5 sacks this season. The former third overall pick is in his second full campaign with the Jaguars following a trade from the Buffalo Bills in 2017.
