The Denver Broncos and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. reached an agreement on a one-year contract adjustment for 2019, the team announced on Tuesday.
Harris will earn $12.05 million with his new deal, a raise from the $8.9 million he was scheduled to make, sources told 9 News' Mike Klis.
A breakthrough in negotiations came when Harris was offered a $650,000 bonus for reporting to organized team activities and another $600,000 bonus for attending training camp, Klis reports.
The veteran defender is still entering the final year of his contract and previously told the Broncos to either give him a new one or trade him. After extensive talks with Harris' agent, general manager John Elway opted to pay his top cornerback.
Harris, a four-time Pro Bowler, notched 49 tackles and three interceptions in 12 games last year. However, he finished the campaign on injured reserve after fracturing his fibula in Week 13.
