New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon after being carted off during Sunday's divisional-round matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles, a source told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Rankins appeared unable to put any weight on his left leg while exiting.

The former first-round pick produced a breakout season in the heart of New Orleans' defense during 2018, racking up eight sacks and 40 total tackles.

With Rankins sidelined, the Saints will need to rely on the likes of David Onyemata at defensive tackle as they attempt to erase an early 14-0 deficit.
