Report: Jets expected to interview Mike McCarthy for HC position
The New York Jets are expected to interview former Green Bay Packers boss Mike McCarthy as they look to fill their head coaching vacancy, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
It'll be the first known interview for McCarthy since being fired from the Packers on Dec. 2. He authored a 125-77-2 record over 12-plus seasons in Green Bay. The Jets have reportedly had McCarthy high on their coaching wish list since at least the middle of December.
The Jets job is widely viewed as one of the more attractive openings in the league because of the club's salary cap situation and the presence of a potential franchise quarterback in Sam Darnold.
McCarthy has been linked to a number of teams, but he recently rejected interest from the Arizona Cardinals, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
