NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock has interviewed to be the next general manager of the Oakland Raiders, he told Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal at Sunday's game between the Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.
Mayock told Gehlken the Raiders have "interviewed a whole bunch of guys," but sources told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network that Mayock is "firmly in the mix" for the opening.
The 60-year-old analyst has never held a position with an NFL team but has been with NFL Network in various roles since 2004.
The Raiders fired Reggie McKenzie earlier in December during his seventh season as general manager.
The Raiders' next hire is expected to be working alongside head coach Jon Gruden, who's believed to have control over the roster.
