James Conner's absence from the Pittsburgh Steelers' lineup may be an extended one.
The Steelers running back has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh is expected to take a cautious approach with his recovery from an ankle sprain. Conner could also miss next week's matchup with the New England Patriots, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
However, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Conner has a chance to play next week.
Conner picked up the injury in last week's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jaylen Samuels is expected to take on the lead back role in Conner's absence.
