Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates became the latest California-based athlete to be a victim of burglary when his San Fernando Valley home was robbed over the weekend.

The 38-year-old Gates confirmed to Eric D. Williams of ESPN that his wife, Sasha, and two children were home when a pair of suspects - who were caught on surveillance cameras - made off with a bag of items including jewelry. However, nobody was hurt.

"All that stuff ... didn't matter to me, to be honest with you," Gates said. "I was just so concerned with my kids.

The tight end was on the road for the Chargers' Week 13 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at the time of the incident.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig were victims in a series of burglaries earlier this year.
