Vikings' Zimmer didn't watch Rams vs. Chiefs: 'I'm not a 54-51 type of guy'
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer didn't watch the Los Angeles Rams' 54-51 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but, despite the game being widely hailed as a football classic, he doesn't feel like he missed much.
"Honestly, I didn't watch it," Zimmer said, according to The Athletic's Josh Tolentino. "I was prepping for Green Bay. I'm not a 54-51 type of guy. That's just not my cup of tea."
Considering Zimmer has spent the majority of his career as a defensive coach, it isn't surprising that the high-scoring affair wasn't his type of football.
The Chiefs-Rams game had the best Monday Night Football overnight rating since 2014, and viewership was up 57 percent from last year's Week 11 Monday night matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks.
The Vikings, last year's NFC Conference finalists, have been underwhelming this season with a 5-4-1 record. While their defense ranks in the top five in defensive yards allowed, their offense has been mediocre, ranking 15th in points per game and 14th in yards per game.
