Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea has avoided serious injury after the team initially feared he tore his ACL, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Vea reportedly underwent an MRI that confirmed his ACL is intact.

The 23-year-old has played sparingly during his rookie season, recording two tackles in four games.

Vea was selected 12th overall by the Buccaneers in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
