Eagles fan who ran into subway pole surprised with tickets to London game

The Philadelphia Eagles fan who went viral in January after he was filmed running into a pole in the subway following the NFC Championship Game will be joining the team in London.

Jigar Desai was recently surprised with tickets for himself and his family to attend the Eagles' Oct. 28 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in England, which will be featured in an upcoming digital short film, according to The Associated Press' Kristen De Groot. The eight-minute video will be released on NFL digital and social media platforms next week.

Filmmakers told Desai they wanted him to take them to the infamous subway pole, where Eagles cheerleaders, team mascot Swoop, and a string band were waiting for him. That's when Desai was presented with the tickets.

"It was a total surprise, and as a dad, it was so great to be there with my kids. My youngest always says 'So you hit a pole. So what?'" he said.

Desai had what he described as a "ceremonious" and safe "run-in with a post at home to keep the positive mojo going" before Super Bowl LII, and plans to do it before all future Eagles playoff games.

"It's been a wild ride and a long 15 minutes and I've enjoyed every minute of it," he said.
