Report: Rams' Talib to miss at least 1 month, Peters day-to-day with injury

Los Angeles Rams star cornerback Aqib Talib suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers and will miss at least one month, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Talib will probably require surgery and is getting a second opinion.

Rams cornerback Marcus Peters suffered a strained calf and is considered day to day. The Rams host the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday and it may be difficult for Peters to return in time, sources told Schefter.

Talib has been named to five consecutive Pro Bowls and is expected to be a major piece to the Rams' new-look defense. He was traded to the Rams from the Denver Broncos in March. Talib recorded nine tackles, a forced fumble, and two pass deflections through three games.

It was initially feared that Peters suffered an Achilles injury, but tests revealed the calf strain. Like Talib, Peters was acquired in a March trade, coming over from the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time Pro Bowler recorded four tackles and an interception in three games with the Rams.

It's a tough development for the 3-0 Rams, as Sam Shields and Nickell Robey-Coleman will likely be adjusted within the defense to replace Peters and Talib. Troy Hill, Dominique Hatfield, and Ramon Richards could see increased playing time.
