Bengals sign Atkins, Dunlap to contract extensions

The Cincinnati Bengals were busy addressing their defensive front on Tuesday.

Defensive tackle Geno Atkins signed a four-year contract extension, the team announced. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $65.3 million. The 30-year-old is a six-time Pro Bowler with two All-Pro nods. He was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Bengals and has 61 career sacks with eight forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap was rewarded with a three-year extension, according to the team. His deal is worth $45 million, a source told Schefter. Dunlap has been named to two Pro Bowls through his first eight NFL seasons. He has 64.5 sacks, eight fumble recoveries, and two interceptions since being chosen with the 54th overall pick of the 2010 draft.

"Geno and Carlos have worked hard to improve each season, and we’re expecting 2018 to be their best seasons yet," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "We have worked diligently to develop and retain talent over the years, and these contracts keep two of our best players with us for the foreseeable future."
