EA Sports apologized for Colin Kaepernick's name being edited out of a song in Madden 19, calling it "an unfortunate mistake" and confirming the error will be rectified in an update.

Kaepernick is named in YG's song "Big Bank" which also features 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj, but EA Sports omitted the reference.

The video game company released the following statement on Thursday:

As revealed by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Kaepernick's name was also scrubbed from a song in Madden 18. It's unclear if this, too, was a rights issue.

Kaepernick, who has been out of the NFL since March 2017, is suing the league for collusion under the collective bargaining agreement.

Despite EA Sports' apology, Kaepernick continued to push for more answers on Twitter, retweeting several tweets that questioned whether the NFL was responsible for his name being edited out.

YG responded shortly thereafter, demanding an apology from EA Sports, even after they offered their contrition.
